چکیده

The controllability of viscoelastic fields is a fundamental concept that defines some essential capabilities and limitations of the resulting materials. In this paper, we study the controllability of different homogeneous flow fields of viscoelastic fluids governed by the upper convected Maxwell model. The approach is largely based on the nonlinear geometric control theory. Through the analysis of the control Lie algebra, we find the submanifolds in the state space on which the homogeneous flow fields are weakly controllable. Our approach can be generalized to more complicated systems. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

ELECTRODE EFFECT ON FLOW CONDITIONS IN ARGON GAS METAL ARE MODELING

A two dimensional mathematical model has been developed for describing the temperature, flow, and electric fields in the are column of the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) of aluminum in argon shielding gas using axisymmetric Navier-Stokes, Maxwell, and differential thermal energy equations. The predicted results are most sensitive to the cathode spot radius and an optimum cathode spot radius exist...

Calculation of tunnel behavior in viscoelastic rock mass

Wall displacements and ground pressure acting on the lining of a tunnel increase with time. These time-dependent deformations are both due to face advance effect and to the time-dependent behavior of the rock mass.  Viscoelastic materials exhibit both viscous and elastic behaviors. Thorough this study, the effect of different linear viscoelastic models including Maxwell, Kelvin and Kelvin-Voigt...

Influences of magnetic field in viscoelastic fluid

This communication influences on magnetohydrodynamic flow of viscoelastic fluid with magnetic field induced by oscillating plate. General solutions have been found out for velocity and shear stress profiles using mathematical transformations (Integral transforms). The governing partial differential equations have been solved analytically under boundary conditions u(0,t)=A_0 H(t)sinΩt and u(0,t)...

Effects of thermal diffusion and chemical reaction on MHD transient free convection flow past a porous vertical plate with radiation, temperature gradient dependent heat source in slip flow regime

An analytical investigation is conducted to study the unsteady free convection heat and mass transfer flow through a non-homogeneous porous medium with variable permeability bounded by an infinite porous vertical plate in slip flow regime while taking into account the thermal radiation, chemical reaction, the Soret number, and temperature gradient dependent heat source. The flow is considered u...

A NOTE ON THE UNSTEADY FLOW OF A VISCO-ELASTIC MAXWELL FLUID THROUGH A RECTILINEAR PIPE

The unsteady flow of a visco-elastic Maxwell fluid through a rectilinear pipe having its cross-section as a parallelogram under the influence of a axial pressure gradient (I) varying linearly with time , and (II) decreasing exponentially with time has been discussed in the present paper. Variables separable and Laplace transform methods have been used to solve the problem.
